WV FREE has been leading the reproductive health and justice movement in West Virginia since our founding in 1989. Our mission is to seek legal protection at state and national levels guaranteeing the right to decide whether, when and how to have children; the human right to bodily integrity and control over one’s body and the ability to parent children in health and safe environments; broaden the base of active, vocal and community support for and understanding of reproductive rights, health and justice in West Virginia; and ensure accessibility to and affordability of reproductive health care for all West Virginians, including the right to abortion, birth control, adoption, prenatal care, sexuality education and birth options as chosen by women.

WV FREE works with supporters to raise money for the Choice Fund.  The Choice Fund is administered by the Women's Health Center in Charleston, WV.  Women who cannot afford abortion care are determined for eligibility for support from the Choice Fund.

Nearly all abortion funds are grassroots organizations that work directly with those who face obstacles to abortion. The money we raise helps pay for an abortion, travel to a clinic, or for an overnight stay in a motel near a clinic.

More often than not, we are the only allies people have as they try to raise money to pay for an abortion. We are also at the forefront of a dynamic and growing movement that honors the leadership and voices of low-income women, young women and women of color. Join us!
