ABOUT OUR FUND

The Network for Reproductive Options (NRO) is a statewide grassroots organization located in Eugene that has been helping Oregon women pay for abortions and access sexual and reproductive healthcare education for over 13 years!

Oregon has the proud distinction of being the only state in the nation with no statutory limitations on Women's Access to abortion!  We are also blessed to have the Oregon Health Plan (OHP) that provides abortion coverage for many low-income Oregon women.

But many other low-income women are not eligible for OHP. Some may have private insurance that does not cover abortions. Others may have coverage but must take time off from work, arrange child care, and travel sometimes hundreds of miles (which can necessitate paying for an overnight stay in a motel) to find a clinic.

We at NRO believe that no women should be denied her right to control her own body or reproductive choices based on her income! We have a dedicated group of well trained volunteers that "staff" our pregnancy options hotline and provide financial counseling to women trying to raise money to pay for an abortion. We also offer our Women In Need (WIN) Fund, which provides funding to assist women in paying for these abortions.  We generally disperse $40-50,000 each year to assist the women we serve.

We receive no government funding. The majority of our funds come from hundreds of (generally small) individual donations, but as our primary fundraising events, we rely on our Bowlathons to help us raise thousands of dollars each year!

As an Abortion Fund we are also at the forefront of a dynamic and growing movement that honors the leadership and voices of all women including low-income and young women, and women of color. Join us! And help to continue to help
the women of Oregon!

Event Updates

Posted 2/28: We're excited to see you at a new bowling alley this year!  Unfortunately the venue where we traditionally hold our bowl-a-thons burned down last year.  So come on out to FIRS BOWL on April 23 to celebrate NRO and bowl over barriers to abortion access.

Posted 2/1:
Hi bowlers!  We're currently seeking team captains and volunteers for our Bowl-a-thon happening on Saturday, April 23!  Stay posted for further details and email Steph at [email protected] for more info on team captaining or volunteering.

WHY WE BOWL

Funds hear firsthand how hard it can be to pay for an abortion. We're bowling to raise money to help those in need today, and we're committed to building a more just world where everyone, regardless of income, can get all of the care they need without stigma or shaming.

School, stability, a belief in the future
Andra leaves campus to drive several hours each Friday afternoon to visit her two-year-old son, who lives with eight other family members at Andra’s grandmother’s house.
