If you needed help paying for an abortion, who would you call?
For many of us, the answer is our parents, sibling, or best friend. But thousands of women in the DC area need abortions that can cost anywhere from $160 to $20,000 - and they can't just pick up the phone to ask their families and friends for $100, or $600, or $1,000. So they call DC Abortion Fund.
DC Abortion Fund helps ensure that pregnant people who need access to an abortion aren't denied care because they can't afford it.
On April 26, I'll join with other supporters to play pool and raise money for DC Abortion Fund, as part of the annual National Abortion Access Bowl-a-Thon (we don't have a supportive bowling alley in DC, so we're playing pool instead).
Will you support my team by donating $15, $150, or anything in between today? Your donation can make all the difference for someone who needs help affording abortion care.
Last year, DC Abortion Fund received calls from 2,516 women and girls (210 calls per month!), and provided an average of $221 per patient. Overall, DC Abortion Fund gave more than $139,000 to women and girls in need. I think that's pretty incredible.
I don't think anyone should be denied access to an abortion because they can't afford it. But the money that DC Abortion Fund and abortion funds around the country provides to the people who call them - it has to come from somewhere, right? That's where we come in.
I'm trying to raise $1,000 for abortion access in DC, but I know that with your support we can raise even more. Will you donate today, and help me not just meet, but pass my goal?
