WHY I'M BOWLING

Hello friends!

The past three years I have devoted my free time to the reproductive justice movement. I volunteer for Network for Reproductive Options, a non-profit organization offering resources, financial assistance, and reproductive health support to people. I have been a hotline advocate for over two and a half years and currently I am on the Board of Coordinators.

An average week on the hotline can consist of seven calls a day from people all over Pacific Northwest. They are in tough situations, and while each one has a unique story to tell, the consistent theme among their stories is the concern with making a responsible decision about their health, and doing the best they can to support themselves and their families. Working with NRO has taught me that people should be the ultimate decision-makers regarding their own health care. We are committed to educating people, communities, and families about all reproductive health issues and options because lack of information is a part of the barrier that prevents reliable healthcare and social justice. We encourage people to advocate for themselves. The sincere gratitude that people express at the end of this difficult period is tremendous. It is truly a privilege to be a part of something that is so important and so needed.

In addition to funding Oregon residents in 2014, NRO also funded people in Florida, Idaho, Indiana, Wyoming, and Illinois. Any donation, no matter how small, matters. The cost of an abortion ranges from $450 - $2,500+ and clinics require full payment prior to a procedure. When you support me in the Bowl-a-Thon, you are not only directly helping someone access necessary medical care, you are also giving them back the opportunity to pursue their hopes and dreams. You are helping someone change their life.
