WHY I'M BOWLING

friends and family: by this point, you know i'm a feminist. you may not know, however, how important access to reproductive health services are to my personal feminism. repro justice issues were kind of my foray into feminism.

way back in the 6th grade (fall 2000) when asked to make a campaign sign for either Al Gore or George W. Bush that discussed a specific campaign issue, I opted to make a sign for Gore because he was pro-choice. I absolutely did not understand what choice that was, but I knew if Gore was for women making their own choices, I picked him.

not much has changed since then, except adding a much more nuanced, gender-inclusive, anti-racist kinda feminism to my repertoire. the ability to choose is greatly affected by the financial means to choose the services, including abortion, that one may need. not just the procedure itself, but childcare, transportation, hotel, etc. especially for folks who live in more rural or isolated areas who have to travel to get the care they need, NYAAF steps in and is a huge asset to the folks they help.
